Mililani Woman Dies In Fatal Pedestrian Accident

Hawaii News Now reports that a Mililani woman has died in a pedestrian accident. The 49-year-old woman was jogging in a marked crosswalk, near Meheula Parkway and Kuahelani Avenues, when she was struck by a Chevy pickup truck. Emergency Medical Service personally took her to a local hospital, where she later died. It is unknown whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.

Whenever a serious injury accident occurs, it is important to conduct a thorough investigation into all of the potential causes. For example, often accidents are the result of driver error. This includes reckless or negligent driving such as speeding, drunk driving or distracted driving.

Other times other factors that are not as readily apparent may be the underlying cause, such as where a car or truck has defective breaks or tires, or some other flaw that creates a danger, and increases the likelihood of an accident. In these situations, it may be possible to file a product liability lawsuit against the auto part manufacturer or distributer to recover compensation for all harm that occurs.

Additionally the design of the roadway itself, or how it is maintained may be a leading factor in an accident. If obstructions exist that make it difficult to see crosswalks, or to stop in time for pedestrians, or in some cases force pedestrians to walk outside of designated crosswalks, the municipality or other body in charge of maintaining a roadway may be found negligent and liable for personal injury damages.

Due to the sheer number of factors that may lead to an accident, if you or a loved one has suffered a serious personal injury, consulting with an experienced Hawaii injury lawyer right away is important.
