Alcohol Potential Factor in Oahu Traffic Fatality

Hawaii News Now reports that a 55-year-old man and his 33-year-old passenger died in a head-on collision with a pickup truck. The driver of the pick up truck also suffered serious personal injuries. According to reports, the driver of the pickup truck, a 21-year-old, was passing another car around the bend on Kamehameha Highway when the crash occurred. While the accident remains under investigation, speed and alcohol may be involved. The driver is facing two counts of negligent homicide.

Despite significant effort being made to eliminate drunk driving, thousands of people across the country are injured or killed in alcohol related injuries each year. When an impaired driver causes an injury accident, in addition to any criminal charges, the injured party and his or her family may be able to file a civil lawsuit. By filing a civil lawsuit, you may be able to recover numerous costs, including the expense of medical treatment, repair expenses for damage to your car and lost wages. Additional compensation may be available for physical and emotional suffering.

This accident marks the 24th Oahu traffic fatality this year.
