Fatal Pedestrian Accident Kills One

Hawaii News Now reports that a 20-year-old man has been identified as the latest victim of a deadly pedestrian accident in Honolulu. According to reports, the man was crossing Kaukonahua Road near Keakula Street when he was hit by a speeding vehicle. The 65-year-old driver has been arrested for driving under the influence. This is the 5th traffic fatality of 2018 compared to one this time last year.

Unfortunately, Hawaii ranks near the top of the nation for car vs. pedestrian and car v. bicycle accidents. Its walkability and pleasant climate increase the number of individuals on the road and the likelihood of accidents occurring. Further Hawaii is of leading states for driving under the influence arrests and accidents.

DUIs and distracted driving are the main causes leading to pedestrian accidents. Drunk drivers put everyone at risk. Thousands of people across the country are injured or killed every year in alcohol related accidents and Hawaii has strict laws to prevent this behavior. When you or a family member has been injured in an accident caused by a drunk driver, our firm will seek an insurance settlement against the negligent driver. An aggressive Hawaii personal injury attorney can help you build a case to recover damages.
