Fatal Hawaii Zip-Lining Accident Raises Questions Of Safety

A recent fatal Hawaii zip line accident has raised many questions concerning the safety of this popular activity.

According to Maui police, a Santa Rosa woman died after failing from a zip line at Piiholo Ranch Zipline in Makawao, Hawaii. The 29-year-old woman was an employee of the ranch. An incident report indicates that the woman fell 150 feet from the zip line, however details of how the accident occurred have not been revealed.

While it is unclear what factors may have caused or contributed to such tragedy, whenever serious personal injuries occur, an investigation will follow into the causes behind an incident, and whether steps could have been taken to prevent such accident. Further although some activities - such as zip lining – may be inherently dangerous, certain precautions and safety requirements must be followed. Additionally, it is important to ensure that all equipment used is in proper working order and adequately maintained.

If you have been injured in an accident or a loved one has suffered a wrongful death, it is important to contact an experienced Hawaii personal injury lawyer to protect your rights and begin investigating the causes of the accident and who or what may be responsible. Where the negligence of another party causes harm, you may be able to recover compensation. In situation where another's recklessness or carelessness leads to a death, the survivors may be able to file a wrongful death claim. Further, because the woman was an employee of the ranch, whether she died while performing work at the ranch may also impact the investigation.
