Hawaii News Now reports that a man from California sustained serious personal injuries following a motorcycle accident in the Moanalua area of Oahu. According to reports, the man lost control of the cycle and was ejected from his seat and sustained serious head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. The accident remains under investigation.

Motorcyle accidents are one of the more danagerous types of roadway accidents. Because little protects a rider from serious injury in a crash, when accidents do occur they often result in substantial, if not life threatening, personal injuries.

In fact, statistics provide that 80% of all motoricylce accidents lead to serious injuries, with 18% of those injured suffering a permanent disability and 10% receiving injuires that leave them paralyzed. As a result, consulting with an experienced Hawaii personal injury lawyer as soon as possible following an accident is important to ensure you receive just compensation for your injuries.

Several different factors mayy casue or contribute to an accident. While in some instances the motorcycle driver may be partly to blame, more often than not motorcycle accidents occur in response to an outside factor, such as a driver of a passenger vehicle becoming distracted and not seeing the motorcylist, leading to a collision, or the motrocyclist having to swerve or take other evasive action where a dangerous roadway condition exists.

Because the factors surrounding any motorcycle accident vary, it is critical to contact an experienced Hawaii motorcycle accident attorney right away if you or a loved one have been injured.
