Fatal Hawaii Truck Accident Kills 47-Year-Old

Kamehameha Highway has now reopened after a freak truck accident fatally injured a 47-year-old Kahaluu man. According to Hawaii news now, the accident occurred early Friday morning when a 3,500-glallon tank filled with asphalt bank, broke away from the truck towing it. The tank then skidded across the road, then hit a rental car, a utility pole and pick up truck. The man driving the pick-up died at the scene.

The family riding in the rental car was not injured. A small stretch of Kamehameha Highway had to be closed while Honolulu Police investigated the accident.

Whenever a truck accident occurs, conducting a thorough investigation into all of the factors that may have caused or contributed to an incident is critical. While it is important to consider driver error, other factors such as equipment failures, the existence of defective parts, or whether the trucking company followed the proper safety procedures and protocols.
