Hawaii news reports that a woman has died due to injuries sustained in a multi car accident. While the investigation is underway, initial reports indicate that the woman was operating her vehicle southbound when she crossed into the opposite land of traffic. Her vehicle then collided with a truck headed north. The southbound driver sustained serious personal injuries and later passed away at the hospital, however the driver of the truck was not injured.
While all of the factors that cause the crash are unknown, police believe speed was a factor. Whenever a crash occurs, especially one involving serious personal injuries or death, it is important to begin an investigation into all of the causes as soon as possible. Once all injured parties have obtained medical care, collecting evidence concerning how the incident transpired is crucial. This includes taking photos of the scene, determining if any witnesses exist to the accident and obtaining statements, and documenting any other observations of the scene. A more comprehensive investigation often occurs, but detailing as much information as possible at the time of the incident is critical.
Hawaii island police noted this is the 24th traffic fatality this year compared to 29 at the same time last year.
